Period Delay Service at Bretts Pharmacy

It's common to want to delay a period. If you are going to an important event, holiday, sports competition, or special occasion, delaying a period, especially if they are painful, can make all the difference. We can help by prescribing Norethisterone, which works by mimicking natural progesterone levels, which prevents the onset of the period for up to 17 days.

Please note this does not work as a contraceptive, and should not be used regularly.

What is Norethisterone?

Norethisterone is a progesterone-based medication that temporarily delays your period. It works by maintaining progesterone levels in the body, preventing the natural shedding of the womb lining that causes menstruation.

How to take Norethisterone for period delay

  • Start taking one tablet three times a day, at least 3 days before your period is due.
  • Continue taking the tablets for as long as needed (up to a maximum of 17 days).
  • Your period will begin 2-3 days after stopping the tablets.
